Popularity was written when I was in the 9th grade, it was right around the time I came out, and the problem I was having through school before and after I came out was I was not a very popular kid. I received a lot of greif, people picking on me, calling me harsh names, and being downright mean. I still to this day find this poem to be rather inspirational and would love to hear that one day popularity ceases to exist on the grounds that people consider someone to be popular, according to this poem.

Popularity

What is popularity?
Is it having the ability
To beat someone up?
If it is, then you're
Violent, not popular.
Is it having the ability
To put someone down?
If it is, then you're
Mean, not popular.
It can't be somone's beauty,
Because everyone is beauitufl.
No matter what.
If getting in trouble
Makes you popular.
It doesn't!
You're one of the people,
Not to hang around.
Popularity is the ability
To be yourself, to not hate,
And to be caring for all.
So if you don't have any
Of these abilities,
Then you aren't popular.
Be yourself, care for others,
And don't hate!
Trust me, if you do
All those things,
You will be able
To do anything in life!
